About Louise

Louise is a Perth (Boorloo) based writer with a love of the curious, gothic and the unexplained. Lost in daydreams of other worlds, she hopes to one day discover a secret passage in her house. Until then, she composes poetry and writes flash fictions, short stories and novellas for children- and children who have grown up.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing and Literature). The short story ‘Hush’ was awarded a ‘Commended’ in the KSP Writers Centre Short Fiction Prize in 2023. Other stories have been shortlisted and published in KSP anthologies and shortlisted for the Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction.

Publications in 2025 include her short story, ‘Universally Acknowledged, Mostly’ in the little journal’s romance edition. Her poem, FutureGhost is available in the Perth Short Story Dispenser- found at Raine Square.

‘Moments at the Ocean’ appears in the children’s poetry anthology Right Way Down and Other Poems, an Alphabet Soup Books and Fremantle Press collaboration. A micro memoir, ‘Summer 1981’ was published in the latest Night Parrot Press anthology, titled Our Selves.

Her speculative fiction story, ‘Just Don’t Run’ was published in the first edition of the little journal and two of her spooky stories, ‘I Told You So’ and ‘The Image of Elise’ were shortlisted and published in the 2024 KSP Anthology, ‘Duet and Other Stories’ by Dragonfly Publishing. In her spare time, Louise enjoys working as a bookseller.

A member of the ASA, The Peter Cowan Writers Centre and SCBWI, Louise is currently keeping out of mischief by writing a middle grade fantasy adventure series for children.
